The program also includes a Photo Tour slide show and access to an indoor climbing wall. Visiting students reside on-site and sleep in cozy, heated cabins with bunk beds, have private showers and indoor bathroom facilities, and eat hearty, balanced meals in a welcoming cafeteria.

• Ages: 5–18 years old
• Schedule: Visiting students reside at Sly Park for three, four, or five days.

Since 1970, Sly Park Environmental Education Center has been at the forefront of outdoor education for over 50 years. Credentialed teachers offer lessons and hands-on experiences that are supported with a Science 5E Instructional model using live instruction, hyper-docs, videos, and digital resources, along with short self-guided activities between lessons called Home Investigations. The mission of Sly Park Environmental Education Center is to cultivate environmental literacy through experiential and place-based learning, and staff support the academic, social, and emotional growth of participants in ways that enrich understanding of California's Next Generation Science Standards and Environmental Principles & Concepts. As an accredited California Resident Outdoor Learning Center, the program aligns with California Next Generation Science Standards, and programs are certified by the California Outdoor School Association. Founded through a partnership between the U.S. Forest Service and the Sacramento County Office of Education, Sly Park Environmental Education Center is a permittee of the Eldorado National Forest and operates under a non-discrimination policy on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, age, or disability. Sly Park Director Jeremy Meyers leads the program, which is described as more than a field trip and as a transformative experience.
