Beach Cities Sharks Pop Warner Football and Cheer offers football and cheerleading for ages 5-14. Football players participate in tackle football, and flag football is not available. For tackle football, practice starts July 15, with games on Saturdays and the first game scheduled for the last weekend of August.

About the provider
Pop Warner was founded in 1929 by Joe Tomlin. The organization says it is the oldest national youth football and cheerleading organization in the world and has over 120 leagues and over 325,000 members. Beach Cities Sharks announced open enrollment for the upcoming fall season and is described as the most successful youth football and cheerleading league in the nation.
Beach Cities Sharks Football and Cheer requires all participants, parents, and volunteers to abide by a Code of Conduct. A 2.0/70% or the equivalent is the minimum grade point average acceptable to participate. If a participant cannot meet the academic requirement, a scholastic waiver may be obtained. Players compete with kids of similar age and size. The program says it sets and enforces an age and weight matrix. Registration for the 2026 season is closed.
