St. Matthias Preschool

St. Matthias Preschool offers an emergent play-based curriculum that includes Spanish sessions, music and dance sessions, science, math, cooking, health, nutrition, and arts and crafts. The curriculum includes daily planned and free choice opportunities for children to explore and experiment, and children are placed in groups by age and development level. The program is described as a “home away from home” environment where children are provided a place to grow, learn, and play.

St. Matthias Preschool was founded in 1977. The program’s mission as a Catholic preschool is to provide a curriculum designed to help each child develop a positive self-image through experiences in a high-quality early learning program that aims to provide a solid foundation for all children’s success in life. The curriculum promotes growth in social-emotional, spiritual, language and literacy, Spanish, motor skills, music and dance, science, math, cooking, health, nutrition, and arts and crafts, and incorporates Christian values with age-appropriate faith formation that fosters prayer and teaches values related to caring, kindness, patience, respect, and gratitude while learning the love of God. The curriculum is intentional, individualized, and age appropriate, based on the developmental needs and interests of children to help maximize academic and social-emotional potential necessary for kindergarten readiness, and it is supported by partnerships with families based on mutual respect, support, and trust. St. Matthias Preschool is licensed for 90 children between the ages of 2 through 5, is licensed by the Department of Social Services, and follows its guidelines under Facility #410502005. The preschool leadership lists Rosemary Juarez as the Preschool Director.
