Aim High Summer is designed for current 5th–8th grade middle school students who have limited access to summer academic enrichment programs and is committed to a multi-summer learning experience beginning in 5th grade through 8th grade, with students expected to attend consecutive summers throughout middle school. The program states that it ignites a love of learning, prepares students for success in middle school, high school, and beyond, and aims to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment where every student can thrive. Aim High Summer has worked to implement restorative practices to prevent and respond to conflict, harm, and wrongdoing, and its behavior expectations and interventions are rooted in these practices. The program upholds CORE values of Community, Opportunity, Respect, and High Expectations, and strives to create an inclusive environment where staff and students feel they are part of something special and can be their true selves. Oakland Unified School District students apply through Inplay.

One parent shared, “Aim High Has been a lifeline for me as a working parent. I have felt incredibly confident that my child is getting to experience both fun and learning. Communication has been easy, program offerings have been great, and my child enjoys his instructors. This was also a wonderful opportunity for my child to get a taste of middle school transitions between classes, different kinds of enrichment opportunities, new sports, and mentorship.”
