California Learning Center offers academic tutoring for kindergarten through 12th grade, with in-person sessions at the Sacramento center or online. It also offers reading tutoring, math tutoring, writing tutoring, High School Placement Test preparation, study skills coaching, SAT/ACT test preparation, academic enrichment, homework assistance, and homeschool student support.

About the provider

California Learning Center was established in 1984 and has operated in the Sacramento area since the mid-1980s. Sandra Hampton is the owner/director, and Kimberly McElhern is the Director of Middle/High School Programs. The program states a mission of helping families in the Sacramento area achieve academic excellence with expert tutoring and serving students from kindergarten through 12th grade. It uses experienced, credentialed teachers and research-based programs developed at California State University, Los Angeles. Sandra Hampton received the First Year Teacher of the Year Award, the Teacher of the Year award, and recognition from the Placer County Office of Education as Teacher Who Makes a Difference.

Tuition varies based on the customized plan. Single Subject Diagnostic Testing is $150.00 and Two Subjects Diagnostic Testing is $250.00. Referral bonus: for every student referred who completes one month of instruction, the family receives two free sessions for one child the following month.
