The program offers a free try-out for serious tennis players ages 11–18, a family-friendly multi-child discount, and monthly Academy fees that are set to encourage consistent year-round participation. The program structure allows Academy players to attend an unlimited number of sessions at any Academy location, and training can be held rain or shine using the Spare Time Indoor Tennis Center. Each player can request periodic progress reports, and all new players receive a gift card to shop a player kit from the Academy Store, which has a wide variety of options and is open to players, families, coaches, and friends. The Academy is described as the most affordable tennis training option in Northern California and is the highest level junior tennis training program before the Spare Time Junior Tennis Academy’s Elite Junior Tennis Academy tier, with the Junior Excellence Program identified as the highest level before Academy.
The Academy’s mission is “to maximize the individual development of the highly motivated, accomplished and competitive junior tennis player.” Training is led by certified Tennis Professionals, including world-class, nationally certified Tennis Professionals with credentials such as ITF Coaching Certification, USPTA Elite Pro, USTA/USPTA Specialist in Competitive Player Development, USPTA Silver Anniversary Award as NorCal “Top Teacher,” three-time USPTA Nor Cal “Pro of the Year,” two-time “Coach of the Year” awards, and USTA Certified High-Performance Coach.
