About
The Sacramento Rebels Youth Organization Basketball Program is an organized basketball program that focuses on pre-season and post-season tournament play. The program includes an annual invitational tournament in the Sacramento area each April and offers tournament play throughout the State of California, Arizona, and Hawaii. Teams practice together and play in tournaments throughout Northern and Southern California and Hawaii.
• Ages: 12–18 years old
• Schedule: The tournament season begins in September with a hiatus during the middle/high school basketball season, and tournaments resume in March.
The basketball program is limited to pre-season and post-season tournament play, and each team decides which tournaments to attend and how many to participate in throughout the year. New teams start forming in 7th grade, and each team begins in 7th grade and continues each year until 12th grade, with some players starting as seventh graders and playing every year until their senior year. Tryouts for seventh grade teams are usually held in the spring or summer prior to starting seventh grade, and other age groups may host tryouts as needed to maintain a full roster or to develop new teams in age groups without a team.
The Sacramento Rebels Youth Organization is a non-profit organization that has been in existence since 1983. Its stated purpose is to provide youth in the community the opportunity to participate in an organized basketball program under the sponsorship of the Sacramento Rebels Youth Organization, with a goal of allowing the maximum number of youth to participate within the framework of the organization and to develop competitive teams. The primary objective of the organization is to provide fellowship among all organization members and the community, and every effort is made to avoid conflicts in scheduling and philosophy with other sports programs sponsored by other organizations in the community, including high school basketball.
