About
Techbridge Girls Programs focus on STEM education through out-of-school-time learning, professional development, and leadership training. The programs are described as rigorous and award winning, and they are designed to invite more people into the STEM conversation. Techbridge Girls Programs create spaces of belonging for youth in STEM in settings such as classrooms and community centers.
Techbridge Girls Programs are part of Techbridge Girls, which is celebrating a 25 year history. Techbridge Girls’ mission is to build equitable systems in STEM education. The organization serves Black, Indigenous, and all girls of color, including cis girls, trans youth, gender non-conforming, and/or non-binary youth who experienced girlhood and economic insecurity as part of their journey, with a focus on those growing up in marginalized communities and attending high-poverty and Title I schools. Techbridge Girls designs curriculum and prepares teachers so that all students, including girls of color and gender-expansive youth, feel prepared, curious, and excited about STEM concepts and careers. Its programs are deliberately inclusive and use materials and approaches grounded in the histories and lived experiences of the communities they reach, and they encourage collaboration over competition and a diversity of voices and viewpoints over a standard “way to be” in STEM. Techbridge Girls equips educators, administrators, and leaders to apply a culturally responsive, equity-focused approach to STEM education, and provides training, tools, and a community of support for STEM education in communities across the U.S. The organization recognizes educators, role models, and STEM professionals as critical to advancing equity and promoting belonging throughout a girl’s STEM journey, and it empowers and equips these influential adults, described as “gatekeepers,” to explore their position, power, and privilege. Techbridge Girls’ stated goal is to build equitable systems in STEM education to reach more educators and youth, creating impact that extends for generations, and it exists to create access, belonging, and persistence for thousands of girls in STEM. TBG envisions equitable STEM learning experiences that celebrate, advocate for, and center Black, Indigenous, and all girls of color so they can feel belonging and reach their full potential in the STEM field of their choice.
