About

Withywindle Adventure School is a nature-based program where children spend time outside squishing mud between their toes, counting pockets full of acorns and pebbles, balancing as they leap from rock to rock, and scrambling up and down trees. The program states that research shows that when children are outside, they play harder, learn impulse control faster, develop more resilience, and pick up more cooperative behaviors. At Withywindle Adventure School, the stated number one goal is to get kids into nature so they can develop their bodies and minds holistically.

• Schedule: Phone calls and family visits are scheduled to answer questions and to see if the program would be a good fit for a family.

Withywindle Adventure School roams on land that was cared for by the Nisenan and Miwok peoples, and both tribes exist today here and throughout California. The curriculum includes the history of the original and rightful stewards of the Sacramento Valley. The program materials include the statement “Children Belong Outside” and “© 2024 by Withywindle Adventure School.”
