SPCA Monterey County Animal Camp

SPCA Monterey County Animal Camp is part of the SPCA Animal Camps offered by SPCA Monterey County. The program takes place at a nonprofit, independent, donor-supported humane society that operates the only open admission shelter and the only Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation Center in Monterey County. The organization also provides humane education for children and adults about the humane treatment of animals.

SPCA Monterey County was formed in 1905 and has been serving the animals and people of Monterey County since 1905. Its mission is “Assuring compassionate treatment of all animals through rescue, rehabilitation, protection and education.” The organization offers low cost spay, neuter and vaccination services, a low-cost Veterinary Clinic that has provided over 150,000 spay and neuter surgeries, and microchips and vaccinates thousands of pets every year. It conducts animal cruelty and neglect investigation and rescue, shelters lost pets, provides a Pet Food Bank, and offers Pet Meals in collaboration with Meals on Wheels. SPCA Monterey County also provides wildlife rescue and rehabilitation, disaster preparedness and response, behavior training programs, affordable and fun dog and puppy training classes, a foster program, and barn cat adoptions. The organization does not put time limits on pets in their care and does not euthanize behaviorally or physically healthy animals, or euthanize as a means of population control or for time or space.
