About

SPCA Monterey County Animal Camp offers Animal Camp sessions that take place within the broader programs of SPCA Monterey County. The camp is part of an organization whose doors are open to all animals in need, including dogs, cats, horses, wildlife, exotics, and more. The organization states that it never euthanizes behaviorally or physically healthy animals and does not euthanize as a means of population control or for time or space.

SPCA Monterey County was formed in 1905 and has been serving the animals and people of Monterey County since 1905. It is a nonprofit, independent, donor-supported humane society. Its mission is “Assuring compassionate treatment of all animals through rescue, rehabilitation, protection and education.” The organization operates the only open admission shelter in Monterey County and the only Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation Center in Monterey County. It provides low cost spay, neuter and vaccination services, wildlife rescue and rehabilitation, disaster preparedness and response, affordable dog and puppy training classes, behavior training programs, humane education for children and adults, a Pet Food Bank, and Pet Meals in collaboration with Meals on Wheels. It also conducts animal cruelty and neglect investigation and rescue and shelters lost pets. Gwen May is listed as the first paid Executive Director.
