Paul Birich Aquatics offers Learn to Swim Lessons through both Group Lessons and Private Lessons. Families can choose Group Lesson Registration or Private Lesson Registration, and each registration provides a set of four 30-minute lessons at the same time each day for the selected week.
• Ages: 4–18 years old
• Schedule: Summer 2026, June 15–August 13, with 30-minute lessons offered Monday–Thursday in four-lesson weekly blocks
• Price: Private Lessons: 4 x 30-minute lessons Monday–Thursday for $240 per child per week; Group Lessons: 4 x 30-minute lessons Monday–Thursday for $180 per child per week
Lesson levels are organized from Level 1 through Level 13, ranging from “Afraid of water, won’t put face in” through “Knows all strokes, needs refinement, starts and turns.” Cancellations must be made 2 weeks (14 days) before the start of the lesson session to receive a refund.
Every lesson is led by a coach who has both competed and coached at high levels in swimming. The program is led by Paul Birich, an All-American swimmer and Senior National qualifier in backstroke and butterfly at Sir Francis Drake High School, who also swam Division 1 at the University of Hawaii. For the past 15 years, Paul Birich has provided training and technique instruction to swimmers of many ages and abilities and has served as assistant coach for the Sleepy Hollow Sea Lions since 2012. The program’s stated mission is to focus on technique, water safety, and building confidence for children ages 4 and up, with the goal that every swimmer leaves the water more confident than when they arrived. Paul Birich Aquatics has been featured in the Marin IJ article titled “Former Sleepy Hollow Standout Returns Home.”
