Cahill's Judo Academy was founded in 1948 by Professor John Cahill, and the tradition continues with his son Willy, who moved the dojo to San Bruno. Willy Cahill has been an Olympic, Paralympic, and Pan Am Games Judo coach, and has coached other regional and national judo teams and judokas. He holds a 9th degree black belt in Kodokan Judo and a 10th degree in Kodenkan Jujitsu. The academy states that it honors the legacy of John and Willy Cahill by offering instruction in judo and jiujitsu rooted in tradition and values, and notes that its doors are open to all regardless of age, ability, or experience. Cahill's Judo Academy has produced several Olympians and nearly 1,000 national and international champions, and tournaments for both junior and senior athletes are held throughout the Bay Area as well as at national and international levels. The program also offers a free trial class and includes Teen/Adult Judo and BJJ for all levels on Fridays.
