About

A Love of Learning offers individual tutoring and classes in math, reading, writing, fluency, comprehension, study skills, homework support, public speaking, and kindergarten readiness, including phonemic awareness and writing skills. The program offers fun, creative, and easy ways to improve children's skills, allowing them to learn at their own pace. A Love of Learning also offers free guides and resources, recommended books, a Fastest Way to Fluency Guide, and a complimentary newsletter.

• Schedule: Monday–Friday with options between 8:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m., with Saturday available by appointment

A Love of Learning serves children 4 years old and up, as well as high school and college students. The center offers individual tutoring as well as classes in math, reading, fluency, comprehension, kindergarten readiness, phonemic awareness, and writing skills. The program provides a comprehensive assessment to discover each child's strengths and challenges, then implements a treatment plan and curriculum specifically tailored to the child, made easy to use and understand. A Love of Learning teaches according to each child's unique learning style and needs and is able to communicate with all professionals involved in the child's education when needed.

A Love of Learning states that its mission is “To provide convenient, cost-effective, and qualified instruction in a variety of academic subjects.” The program states that it assists children in attaining academic as well as interpersonal skills and in setting and reaching educational goals, and that it works to create a connection with the child, thereby building confidence and trust. It states that it fosters an atmosphere conducive to optimal learning and retention, with an ambiance of safe and natural collaboration, and that it values each student and family while making the learning environment positive and friendly. The program states that “ALOL” ensures children are making consistent progress and that parents understand how to use the program to assist their children at home, and that it ensures parents understand how to help children at home and ensure skills are consistently improving. It also states that dealing with challenges effectively and helping children develop a love of learning are primary goals at A Love of Learning.

The center describes itself as 100% locally owned and operated and as a full service tutoring center with no contracts. It states that it delivers an effective and affordable experience in a nurturing environment to every child and parent entrusted to them and that each and every tutor has a passion for making a difference in the lives of families as well as aiding children who may struggle with attention, focus, and learning in general. A Love of Learning also states that it is able to communicate with all professionals involved in the child's education when needed and that it will never overuse emails or sell family information to third parties.

A Love Of Learning Director, Anne Vidovich-O-Shea, M.A., has been in education and working with children for 17 years. Her experience includes work as a Marriage Family Therapist Intern, preschool teacher, After-school Program Director at Stanford University, Program Coordinator and Case Manager at Pacifica Youth Service Bureau, Project F.O.C.Y.S, and North Peninsula Family Alternatives. She has also been a Parent Educator at Redwood Parents Nursery School and Menlo-Atherton Co-op and has over 10 years of experience tutoring children, teens, and adults. In A Love of Learning, Anne has created a fun, easy to use, and affordable alternative that is accessible to all families in the community.
