About
Happy Campers Preschool offers hands-on academics and structured learning along with explorations and studies that include empathy, emotional regulation, and collaboration. Children take part in music, movement, art, dramatic play, and learning basic Spanish vocabulary with fluent-speaking teachers. The program also includes outdoor play on climbing structures, splash pad play, age-separated play areas, playful games, hands-on activities, outdoor races on safe poured rubber, team games, and special occasions with a bounce house, as well as indoor obstacle courses, indoor games, and active play with equipment in a spacious gross motor skills room or gym.

Happy Campers Preschool has been a family-owned preschool and daycare since it was founded in 1996 and has been described as a high-quality, award-winning program since that time. The program uses the Experience Curriculum, which blends hands-on academics with structured learning, and offers extra enrichment options with weekly dance sessions for children 2 years and older and weekly soccer sessions for children 3 years and older, plus optional after-school dance and soccer clubs through partnerships with Soccer Shots and Small Fry Dance Club. Teachers are CPR-certified, and the leadership team includes Audra, an early education expert who founded Happy Campers with her parents in 1996 and remains on hand to answer questions, foster a sense of community, and offer support. The facilities include brand-new, open-concept classrooms filled with natural light and decorated with children’s self-portraits, age-separated playgrounds with safe poured rubber, a splash pad, climbing structures, and a bounce house on special occasions, as well as a dedicated gross motor skills room or gym with obstacle courses, games, balls, and equipment for active play, and professionally cleaned spaces with access controls and secure fences. Happy Campers Preschool is a member of NAEYC, has been voted “The Best of the Peninsula” in the Peninsula News’ Readers’ Choice Awards 2025, and serves families in the San Carlos and Belmont communities.
