About

Sequoia Parents Nursery School Summer Camps take place at a cooperative preschool that is dedicated to play-based learning. The program uses large indoor and outdoor spaces with developmentally appropriate equipment so that children can engage in play. Each class schedule is designed to offer children freedom to explore based on their interests, with some teacher-guided group activities offered each week.

• Ages: 16 months–5 years old

Located in San Carlos for 50 years, Sequoia Parents Nursery School has prepared children for admission to kindergarten since 1970. The preschool’s mission states that it uses an interactive, play-based approach that involves children, parents, and teachers, with learning rooted in developmentally appropriate values. The program states that it focuses on the whole child intellectually, physically, socially, and emotionally, and that it supports the parenting journey by offering ways for caregivers to learn and grow together.

The school operates as a part-time, parent-participation co-op and is affiliated with Sequoia District Adult Education, operating in partnership with Sequoia Adult School. Through this affiliation, it provides coaching and support for caregivers through teacher-facilitated discussions based on parents’ observations and current early childhood education resources. Sequoia Parents Nursery School is a nonprofit organization that states it does not discriminate by race, color, national or ethnic origin, creed, religion, gender, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, disability, or status.
