About
Art on 30th Art Classes & Workshops offers art classes and art workshops that include painting, drawing, oil, acrylic, watercolor, and experimental classes. Families can choose from options like a Saturday art workshop or a 5-week art class, and artists can also take part in regional and national juried art shows, the 24-week Keys to the Art World program, and the Advanced Painting for Exhibiting Artists class.
• Schedule: Class and workshop options are available on weekdays and most Saturdays, with some programs running in 5-week sessions and others, like Keys to the Art World, running for 24 weeks.
Art on 30th Art Classes & Workshops has over 20 experienced art instructors who are local San Diego artists. The leadership team includes Owner and Mentor Kate Ashton, Gallery Director Meg Kharpertian, Assistant Gallery Director Efren Obeso, Director of Education and Social Media Manager Kristen Guest, and several gallery assistants. Art on 30th Art Classes & Workshops began as the vision of Kate Ashton in 2013 and officially opened its doors in January 2015. The stated mission is “Where Artists Come to Grow,” with the motto “Create for Joy, Grow for Life,” and Kate Ashton describes it as “A nurturing place and space for artists to flourish.” The program hosts 10 juried art exhibitions where local artists can enter, including a national art show every fall with several hundred art entries, cash prizes for award winners, and a printed catalog giving each juried artist a full-color page. Art on 30th has offered over 100 themed art shows open to any artists in San Diego County, including four shows that raised funds for charitable organizations supporting the Ukrainian people, endangered animals, fostering dogs, and humane treatment of farm animals. Owner Kate Ashton has also published a book featuring local artists with over 100 full-page images of artwork created by artists at Art on 30th.
