About
Center Stage Children's Theater offers a Center Stage Summer Musical Theatre Camp where campers take part in singing, dancing, acting, and other creativity-based activities. Participants learn songs and choreography, develop acting and stage skills, and prepare a condensed showcase that is performed for family and friends on Friday at the end of each week. Each week of camp features a different themed musical experience using selections from a beloved Broadway Jr. show.
• Ages: Kindergarten–8th Grade
• Schedule: Full-day camp Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–3:00 PM, with a Friday performance after camp; four separate camp weeks in July and August 2026
In 2026, Week 1 (July 6–10) is themed “Under the Sea & Beyond” featuring The Little Mermaid Jr., Week 2 (July 13–17) is “Brave, Bold & Brilliant” featuring Matilda Jr., Week 3 (July 27–31) is “A Whole New World of Adventure” featuring Aladdin Jr., and Week 4 (August 3–7) is “Oh, The Places You’ll Go!” featuring Seussical Jr., with no camp held July 20–24. The camp is described as a community-supported theater group in Mission Hills, San Diego, CA, and it is not religiously affiliated with the church whose facilities it uses. Center Stage Children's Theater states a mission focused on personal excellence, collaboration, and the arts, and describes how participants develop responsibility, friendship, teamwork, leadership, cooperation, self-confidence, social skills, and empathy through the process of acting, dancing, and singing together. The organization notes that CSCT is open to all students, that older students are given chances to be positive role models and to teach younger peers, and that children meet peers from other schools and form long-term friendships. The Board of Directors includes Holly Amaya, Holly Bauer, Jennifer Deal, Erin Huffman, Marianne Schafstall, and Rosy Dawn Selwitz, with Dennis Stryker listed as Legal Advisor and Rosy Dawn Selwitz as a contact. The program also states that tax-deductible donations support quality, affordable educational programs and productions and help make it possible for children who might not otherwise have the chance to experience theater.
