About
Center Stage Children's Theater offers a summer musical theatre camp where campers take part in singing, dancing, and acting. Participants learn songs and choreography, develop acting and stage skills, and prepare a condensed showcase based on selections from a Broadway Jr. show to perform for family and friends on Friday.
• Ages: 5–13 years old
• Schedule: Full-day camp Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–3:00 PM, with a Friday performance after camp; each camp week runs for one week, with different themed musical experiences offered during 2026 camp weeks (July 6–10, July 13–17, July 27–31, and August 3–7)
Each week of camp features a different theme: Week 1 is “Under the Sea & Beyond” featuring The Little Mermaid Jr., Week 2 is “Brave, Bold & Brilliant” featuring Matilda Jr., Week 3 is “A Whole New World of Adventure” featuring Aladdin Jr., and Week 4 is “Oh, The Places You’ll Go!” featuring Seussical Jr. The camp is open to performers of all experience levels, and roles and material are tailored for both younger and older students so that every camper has meaningful stage time. Center Stage Children's Theater describes its mission as fostering lifelong confidence in young performers, emphasizing that every child, regardless of role size, is essential to each production and that the program is anchored in the core values of Personal Excellence, Collaboration, and the Arts. The organization states that students gain self-confidence, social skills, empathy, and life skills such as teamwork, leadership, cooperation, responsibility, and friendship through the process of developing acting, dancing, and singing skills and working together as cast and crew. Center Stage Children's Theater identifies itself as a community-supported theater group in Mission Hills, San Diego, CA, and notes that it is not religiously affiliated with the church whose facilities it uses, and that tax-deductible donations support quality, affordable educational programs and productions so more children can experience theater. The leadership includes a Board of Directors consisting of Holly Amaya, Holly Bauer, Jennifer Deal, Erin Huffman, Marianne Schafstall, and Rosy Dawn Selwitz, with Dennis Stryker listed as Legal Advisor and Rosy Dawn Selwitz as the contact person.
