Pro Kids, First Tee - San Diego offers golf, Golf & Life Skills, and Academy programs. The program combines sport, study, and service in its activities. It serves youth in grades 2–12 through these programs.

The mission of Pro Kids, First Tee - San Diego is to challenge underserved youth to excel in life by promoting character development, life skills, and values through education and the game of golf. Pro Kids was founded in 1994 by former AFL/NFL player Ernest H. Wright, Sr. and a group of community leaders. Pro Kids became a charter member of First Tee in 1998 and adopted the name Pro Kids, First Tee – San Diego. Pro Kids is part of First Tee, an international youth development organization founded by the PGA and other associations to advance the game of golf. In 2012, a second location was opened in Oceanside. Since 1994, more than 25,000 kids’ lives have been impacted through values intrinsic to the game of golf, including honesty, confidence, and respect. For more than 30 years, Pro Kids has been providing opportunities and opening doors to youth in underserved communities. Since its inception in 1999, more than $3 million in scholarships has been awarded to Pro Kids Scholars, many of whom are the first in their family to pursue higher education. First Tee modeled much of its founding programming after Pro Kids.
