About
San Diego Festival of Science & Engineering is the flagship program of Generation STEAM. The event was initially a science and engineering-focused event to provide hands-on activities to diverse communities and has evolved into a comprehensive celebration of San Diego's cultures and communities. The festival aims at inspiring the next generation of STEAM leaders and has goals that include fostering passion and inclusion and bridging the gap between the public and STEAM industries.

• Schedule: Mark your calendar for this year's festival March 7, 2026.
The San Diego Festival of Science & Engineering operates under Generation STEAM, which is a 501(c)(3). The organization’s mission is to provide meaningful year-round STEAM experiences for youth and adults in San Diego and throughout California through its virtual platform, and to empower the next generation of STEAM visionaries through K–12 education and exploration. The programming sparks a love of STEAM in K–12 students and exposes them to careers. This annual event is the largest of its kind in California and unites industry leaders, educators, parents, and students. It takes community spirit and engagement to build Festival Week and momentum to support ongoing programs, and Generation STEAM provides opportunities in areas where resource and education equality has historically lacked. The San Diego Festival of Science & Engineering has a history reflected in its copyright dates of 2008–2026.
