About

Before and After School Programs are part of the YMCA of Greater San Francisco and are coordinated with local school districts. The programs are described as safe spaces for students to learn and grow when not in school and focus on achievement, relationship-building, and belonging. To maintain enrollment, families are asked to set up an automatic draft through their Community Portal account for monthly program fees.

• Ages: 5–14 years old
• Price: Your family can receive a 20% sibling discount. Qualified families may also apply for Financial Assistance to help cover monthly rates. Families that qualify for their school’s Free/Reduced Lunch may qualify for discounted rates. Active YMCA Facility Members enjoy exclusive discounts on monthly fees and youth programs, including summer camp and youth sports.

For more than 170 years, the YMCA of Greater San Francisco has stood with individuals and families to help them thrive and was established during the Gold Rush in 1853. The mission of the YMCA of Greater San Francisco is to empower each person’s journey and strengthen the foundations of community, and its Before and After School Programs foster each child’s cognitive, social-emotional, and physical development through opportunities and experiences that focus on achievement, relationship-building, and belonging. The YMCA of Greater San Francisco works with local agencies, such as the San Francisco Children’s Council, and accepts alternative payment vouchers, offers financial assistance on a first-come, first-served basis, and describes itself as an equal-opportunity provider. Each neighborhood YMCA shapes programs and services based on input from community members and strives to reflect the needs and values of the people it serves, and the organization states that it supports whole-person health, including physical health, mental wellness, social connection, and economic opportunity. One staff member describes the YMCA as a welcoming place for the community and notes enjoying working there and hearing how the YMCA has played a role in the lives of people at work and in the community.
