Elizabeth Dekker, the artist and gallery owner, leads the program as a figurative painter with a background in textile design and color development. She studied art at Westmont College in Santa Barbara, graduating with a BFA, and worked for almost 10 years at a textile design firm as a designer and color specialist. She began teaching art at the Sonoma Charter School and continued to paint, teach, and work with young artists for the next decade and a half, then moved to San Francisco in 2014 and continued to teach fine art with various organizations. In late 2020, Elizabeth opened Art Haus.

According to the stated mission, the program focuses on creating a place to inspire and nurture artists of any age and skill, viewing self expression as a necessity and creativity as good for the soul. The Youth Class Pack is described as the best value for regularly scheduled artists, allowing families to purchase eight sessions in advance and save $5 per class. The program notes that children’s art classes are offered in a safe and fun environment and that it welcomes making new friends and meeting neighbors.
