• Ages: 8–17 years old
• Price: There is no fee for the Counselor in Training (CIT) Program.
Every camper experiences an off-site excursion to either the Sonoma Coast or a local nature reserve, with lower-age Villages taking a day-long trip to the Sonoma Coast once during the session and the oldest group, Stepping Stone, taking a field trip to the Russian River. SurfSide Village is for campers entering grades 3–6, Wildwood Village is for campers entering grades 7–9 up to age 14, and Stepping Stone Village is for campers ages 15–17. Age appropriate Villages group campers with peers their own age.
The Counselor in Training (CIT) Program is a leadership development opportunity for teens ages 15–17 and is available during every overnight session of CYO Summer Camp. Interested CIT applicants must complete an online application, reference check, and group interview, and space is limited in each CIT session to 4–8 positions depending on the number of cabins in SurfSide. Once accepted, a CIT attends one overnight camp session as a CIT during the upcoming summer, supports campers in their cabin and village (SurfSide, ages 8–11), and shadows adult camp staff, and CITs are eligible for 70 service hours after successfully completing their session. There is no fee for the CIT Program, CIT applications are closed for summer 2025, and CIT applications for summer 2026 will open in February 2026.
Catholic Charities, founded in 1853 and rooted in faith traditions of charity and justice, supports families, aging and disabled adults, and youth through social service and opportunities for healthy growth and development. Catholic Charities is associated with the San Francisco Archdiocese and operates in partnership with it across San Francisco, Marin, and San Mateo counties, serving more than 70,000 people annually through more than 30 programs and social justice advocacy. One parent testimonial states, “I think this is the most important thing that has happened in my life, to have this opportunity to work and have my child in the center. Being a single mom with two kids, pregnant, with no job, it was really hard for me…now I really want to thank Catholic Charities for the opportunity to have this job and support my family.”
