SMAart Studio Pottery Classes & Workshops

SMAart Studio Pottery Classes & Workshops offers pottery activities that include wheel throwing, hand building, sculpture, Raku, and Paint Your Own Pottery (PYOP). The program takes place in fully equipped studios with Cone 5 oxidation, Cone 10 reduction, and Raku kilns, and includes access to gallery space where work can be shown.

• Schedule: Open studio hours for students from 9am–10pm daily, with 24-hour access for in-house members and 9am–10pm access for remote members and students; 1-day, 4-week, and 6-week sessions are available.

SMAart Studio includes pottery classes, memberships, and gallery space in more than 10,000 square feet of studio. The program offers creative memberships such as cubby, shared room, and remote memberships, along with firing discounts. Events and private experiences are available for team-building events, birthday parties, and celebrations with clay. Guest workshops feature renowned ceramic artists. The mission statement of SMAart is, “At SMAart, we believe clay connects people.” The founder is Steven M Allen (SMA). The galleries showcase work from SMAart members and invited artists, and serve as a space to share creations with the wider San Francisco community and connect with local artists. The Sutter Gallery is operated by KnK Contemporary, and the 24th St Gallery is run by members.
