Camp is led by Children’s Day School faculty and trusted community partners, with leadership that includes Tanner Taylor as Summer Camp Director, Mia Acuna as Preschool Camp Manager, and Shelly Luke Wille as Head of School. At campCDS, children learn to love their city and become compassionate community members, building a strong connection to San Francisco and each other, while Grades 1–6 campers explore the city’s vibrant neighborhoods, rich history, and creative culture.
Children’s Day School states that what students learn and who they become are equally important and describes itself as a Preschool to Grade 8 school and welcoming community in San Francisco. The school has a farm and garden among urban streets, advocates for responsibility to others as well as individual achievement, and describes itself as an independent school with down-to-earth values that is always asking how things can be done better. The curriculum is described as grounded in the world around students, from global issues to challenges in the city and neighborhood, with 30% of students paying sliding scale tuition and a 1:8 teacher:student ratio in preschool. Children’s Day School also describes its community as one where community matters, with a warm community where people look out for each other, families find partners to help bring up their children, and everyone can feel safe, seen, and known.
