Lycée Summer Camps offers weekly themed sessions that include woodcraft, water play, kayaking or boating (age-appropriate), outdoor games, creative projects, arts, circus, science, sports, cooking, trail walks, daily athletics, nature exploration, and waterfront games. Campers can join focused options such as volleyball and basketball clinics, art studios and mixed media, circus movement and balance, team games and coordination, playful science and simple engineering, as well as drawing, sculpture, painting, mixed media, and curation and exhibition skills. Lycée Summer Camps are part of the Lycée Français de San Francisco, which offers French-led experiences across three campuses and runs summer camps from Preschool through Grade 8. At Sausalito and Ashbury camps, the primary language is French with English support for newcomers, and some weeks include field trips or off-campus adventures and lunch. Ortega Camp offers deep-dive weeks with sports clinics, art intensives with materials included, and a Math & Sports Bootcamp with lunch included daily. Campers are asked to bring comfortable layers, closed-toe shoes, a refillable water bottle, a hat or sunscreen, and a small backpack, and week-specific packing lists such as art smocks or towels are sent before start dates.
All staff complete background checks and training, aquatic and boating activities are supervised by qualified personnel, sports clinics are led by experienced coaches from around the city, and art intensives are led by professional artists. The Lycée Français de San Francisco was founded in 1967 and has expanded over the decades to multiple campuses, including acquiring the Conservatory of Music building in 2005 and inaugurating the Sausalito campus in 2013. The school is accredited by the French Ministry of National Education and the California Association of Independent Schools and is part of a 495-member network of French schools led by the Agency for French Teaching Abroad (AEFE). The mission of the Lycée Français de San Francisco is to offer a multilingual and multicultural education from age 2 through high school, provide academic excellence through an authentically French and international education, prioritize a caring environment, and celebrate the diversity of its community, which includes about 50 nationalities and more than 30 spoken languages across its campuses.
