About

The Joffrey San Francisco Summer Intensive offers daily dance training that includes Classical Ballet Technique, Contemporary Ballet, Pointe, Contemporary Partnering, Contemporary Dance, Modern, Improvisation/Composition, and Pilates & Conditioning. Classes are offered Monday through Friday during the session running from July 20, 2026, to August 1, 2026. In-person and virtual instruction options are available, and the intensive focuses on contemporary ballet with daily ballet and pointe classes to reinforce a strong technical base and additional contemporary ballet, modern, and contemporary dance classes and repertoire.

• Schedule: Classes Monday–Friday, July 20, 2026–August 1, 2026
• Price: Virtual Instruction: $995 per week for 1 week, $899 per week for 2 weeks. Housing: $825 per week for 1 week, $725 per week for 2 weeks, ages 12 and above, housing is available and optional for this intensive, multiple week discounts available. Meal Plans: $299 per week, housing meal plan is required for housing students and includes breakfast and dinner from Sunday evening until Friday morning, lunch is included Monday–Friday, students staying multiple weeks will receive breakfast and dinner on the weekends, a meal plan is required for this intensive. Additional Costs & Fees: Registration Fee $125 required one time fee for all students; Studio Lunch Plan Fee $99 optional weekly fee, available for commuter students, 50% due upon registration; Performance Fee $150 required one time fee for Performance Track students; Roommate Initial Request Fee $100 optional one time fee for housing students; Processing Fee 3.50% due at registration; Deposit & Registration Fees $625 (a $500 deposit plus the $125 registration fee and 50% of the lunch fee is required at registration for all students).

Housing is available and optional for students ages 12 and above, with live-in housing staff available to students and parents 24 hours a day, and students are escorted to and from the studio. Rooms are fully furnished apartments with wifi and utilities provided, a community kitchen, laundry facilities in the building, indoor common areas, and chaperoned activities in the evenings. Community residents are required to purchase the meal plan, and a meal plan is required for this intensive.

Dancers attending both weeks have the opportunity to join a culminating theater performance on the final Saturday of the program, while dancers not participating in the performance end on the final Friday of the program. The performance will be recorded and available to purchase, and guests are not allowed to take pictures or videos during the performance. An audition is required for acceptance, and the audition style is ballet.

The faculty is composed of working professionals, instructors, and choreographers who are prominent in the sphere of concert dance. The 2026 faculty includes Andrew Brader, Doug Baum, Abdiel Figueroa Reyes, Kenedy Kallas, Josephine Lee, and Sam McReynolds. Josie Walsh is the Artistic Director of the Joffrey San Francisco Summer Intensive and is also the Founder, Artistic Director, and Choreographer of BalletRED, as well as the Artistic Director of the Joffrey Ballet School’s West Coast Summer Programs, JoffreyRED, Joffrey West, and Joffrey San Francisco.

Robert Joffrey and Gerald Arpino founded the Joffrey Ballet School in 1953. The Joffrey Ballet School New York City Trainee Program is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Dance. The program’s stated mission is to empower passionate dance students at any stage in their journey to reach their greatest potential, transforming them into resilient, versatile open-minded artists by providing them with the highest quality professional and holistic dance training possible.
