JAMaROO Kids

JAMaROO Kids offers classes and events that include Dance, Music, Yoga, Art, bilingual classes, Introduction to Creative Movement and Dance, Outdoor Music & Movement Classes in the Park, music in the park classes, Story Time, Parent Tot, open play sessions, children’s parties, and entertainment at community, corporate, and private events. All outdoor classes are socially distanced and require adults to wear masks throughout the entirety of class during Covid-19 precautions. In 2001, founder Jamaica Stevens combined her knowledge of Child Development with her passion for dance, music, and teaching to create an Introduction to Creative Movement and Dance class, and in 2004 she left her position as Head Teacher at ABC Academy Preschool to teach dance classes full-time. In 2006, she officially changed the name of the company to JAMaROO Kids, and the program expanded by opening its first onsite location in 2011. Since 2005, JAMaROO Kids has offered weekly classes in over 100 different preschools, grade schools, after-schools, family daycares, recreation centers, children’s stores, and museums throughout the Bay Area.

The leadership team includes founder and Executive Director Jamaica Stevens, who is an Early Childhood Education Specialist and Instructor, as well as Founder and CEO of JAMaROO Kids, along with Music Specialist and Early Childhood Education Specialist & Instructor Natalie Ernst, and Instructor Sara Jayne McDonald. JAMaROO Kids specializes in developmentally appropriate Dance, Music, Yoga, and Art for young children and offers weekly classes in over 125 different preschools, elementary schools, after-schools, family childcares, and museums throughout the Bay Area in California and the Seattle Area in Washington State. The program also offers School & Childcare Programs where JAMaROO Kids travels to the facility of the family’s or school’s choice.

JAMaROO Kids provides Outdoor Music & Movement Classes in the Park and services at park locations in San Francisco, Marin, and the East Bay, and in the Seattle Area in Washington State, with over a half dozen parks offering weekly music in the park classes year round. The JAMaROO Kids Club offers a large variety of weekly on-site classes and open play sessions and serves as a community hub for events. Their creative work includes hundreds of original children’s songs, curriculum, an online Teacher Training Program, an online program for children, a professionally produced album on Spotify, Apple Music and all major streaming platforms, and a published book titled “Yoga Adventure!”, and the JAMaROO Kids YouTube Channel has nearly 600 videos and over 3 million views.

JAMaROO Kids serves over 120 different preschools, after-schools, recreation centers, family daycares, and other community venues weekly throughout the Bay Area. Their Teachers Pay Teachers account is visited by teachers all over the United States, and Jamaica has traveled to over half of the states in the US presenting at educational conferences and leading workshops for educators.
