About
Petits Pas offers dance, theater, yoga, acrobatics, crafts, and French language activities for children and adults. Each year culminates in an end-of-year recital, where both children and adult students perform on stage in an outstanding local venue. Classes take place in a welcoming, light-filled space with two studios designed to inspire creativity and movement, and the program offers a wide range of dance and theater classes for students of all ages.
• Ages: 3–18 years old
Petits Pas was founded in 2016 by Virginie Personne, Artistic Director. The teaching team includes Virginie Personne, Léna Alvino, Marie Walburg, and Claire Pascal, and all are fluent in French and English. Each teacher brings a professional background in modern dance, ballet, yoga, and theater, and continues to perform outside the studio. All students are in a bilingual French–English environment, where they are exposed to dance terminology and artistic expression in both languages.
Petits Pas also offers day camps and summer camps for children that combine arts, dance, yoga, theater, acrobatics, crafts, and French language. Each week of camp leads to the creation of a complete performance from start to finish, including story, scenario, characters, backgrounds, props, and costumes, and ends with the recording of a short film that gives campers the experience of a movie shoot. In addition to classes and camps, Petits Pas hosts special events for both kids and adults throughout the year. The program combines these different disciplines to celebrate the senses and teach mixed forms of movement, and is located in the Sunnyside neighborhood.
