• Ages: 4–18 years old
• Schedule: Martial arts classes for adults (ages 13+) nine times a week; martial arts classes for kids (ages 6–9) three times a week; martial arts classes for pre-K (ages 4–5) three times a week; martial arts classes for teens (ages 10–14) three times a week.
Quantum Martial Arts is a nonprofit community studio offering martial arts classes for all ages focused on self-actualization, total body healing, and strength. The program’s core tenets are courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control, and indomitable spirit. It offers a free trial week of classes and a youth scholarship program that allows families in need to train at reduced cost. Quantum Martial Arts is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit in the State of California and has sister schools in Seattle and Portland offering youth and adult classes.
Master Rachael Evans (she/her) is the founder and chief instructor at Quantum Martial Arts and has over 40 years of martial arts experience. She is a sixth-degree black belt and teaches a style she created that blends Tae Kwon Do, Wing Chun, Judo, and Arnis, among other styles, in a challenging and positive learning environment. The first Quantum Martial Arts dojo opened in 1995, with foundational work on the Quantum style beginning in May 1987, and the organization was reorganized as a not-for-profit entity in 2000.
In addition to martial arts classes, Quantum Martial Arts offers free monthly community workshops tailored to engage the public, which have been paused during the COVID-19 pandemic. The organization created outreach programs to help underserved youth, ran after-school and PE programs in several Seattle schools, and at one point had a presence in six different programs and hosted a summer camp at the dojo. The founder’s community involvement has included time in the Q Street Patrol, a grassroots organization that acted as watchdogs for hate crimes and harassment, and leading the security team at the Seattle Pride Parade.
