Randall Museum Classes and Family Workshops include Saturday Science drop-in science workshops for families, Afternoon Art drop-in art workshops for families, Meet an Animal Ambassador sessions, Birding the Hill, and guided, educational Hikes on the Hill. Saturday Science Drop-in Workshops present simple science topics through project-based activities, and most classes produce a project to take home. Afternoon Art Drop-in Art Workshops have art instructors guiding different hands-on art activities each week, and Meet an Animal Ambassador involves open discussion about rescue animal ambassadors from the Wild in California wildlife exhibit, with opportunities to see animals such as a tarantula, a snake, or a bird of prey.

• Ages: 4–18 years old
• Schedule: Saturday Science and Afternoon Art are offered as Saturday drop-in workshops, each with set sign-up windows before class; individual sessions range from 1 to 3 hours, and Birding the Hill starts at 8:00 am on a scheduled date.
• Price: $10 per adult/child combo and $5 per each additional person for Saturday Science Drop-in Workshops; $10 per adult/child combo and $5 per each additional person for Afternoon Art Drop-in Art Workshops.

Saturday Science is for ages 4 years and up and requires participants to be accompanied by a paying adult. Afternoon Art is for ages 5 and up, with ages 5 to 7 and all children under 8 required to be with a paying participating adult. Birding the Hill is described as a moderate/strenuous hike that includes a large staircase and some rocky terrain, and participants are instructed to bring their own binoculars. The program’s stated mission is “Fostering a love of science, nature, and the arts.” Memberships are family memberships and are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law, with levels ranging from Robin, Quail, Raven, and Owl to Vista Circle. Membership benefits include priority and discounted access to Randall classes, special programs and events, discounts on Saturday Drop In Art & Science Classes for certain membership levels, discounts at Café Josephine and the front-desk gift shop, invitations to member events and “After Hours” museum visits, discounts on birthday parties and space rentals with advance booking, listing in the annual report, invitations to guided, educational Hikes on the Hill led by animal and plant life experts, guest tickets to member events, and for certain membership levels a free field trip at the museum for a club or child’s class group. Vista Circle members are invited to an annual Randall Roundtable with the Museum director and invited civic and community leaders and may elect to receive additional special membership benefits such as a free gift membership, a free Randall on the Road mobile nature and science field trip at a child’s school or club, a free animal or art birthday party, or a free evening rental of the Randall Theater, with a note that accepting these benefits may affect tax-deductibility. The Randall Museum is a facility of the San Francisco Recreation and Park Department.
