San Francisco State Kids Camp states that its mission is to provide a safe and high-quality summer experience that engages campers with recreation, field trips, and other interactive learning activities, and that its diverse and inclusive programming will educate at a beginner level the dimensions of health and wellness in a fun summer environment. The program notes that the Mashouf Wellness Center attracts the greater community to educational, cultural and social experiences at San Francisco State.

All staff are current San Francisco State University students, and all counselors are required to participate in 40 hours of intensive program training. The entire staff are CPR, First Aid, and AED certified, and certified lifeguards are dedicated to safety while kids are in the water. The program highlights diverse and inclusive programming that accepts all children and tailors to every child's needs, and describes itself as a wellness center-based camp that strives to keep kids moving. Unique features include flexible hours for busy parents with camp open all day from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Early Care and After Care options, a pool where kids can relax, splash around, and learn to swim in a supervised environment, and a 42-foot tall indoor climbing wall.
