About

STEMful School Break Camps offers science experiments, creative engineering challenges, and hands-on projects where children build, test, tinker, and create. Camp days focus on STEAM learning through play, exploration, and creativity, and children explore science, engineering, and problem-solving through play in a classroom that is more workshop than lecture hall.

STEMful School Break Camps are hosted throughout the school year, including Veterans Day, Presidents Day, Ski Week, and multiple Spring Break sessions, with Spring Break I–V offered Monday–Friday from 3/23–3/27, 3/30–4/3, 4/6–4/10, 4/13–4/17, and 4/20–4/24, and mini-days available for some weeks. Camps are offered for two age groups, 3.5–5.5 years (Pre-School) and 5.5–9.5 years (Elementary), and use a hands-on, play-based approach that blends science, technology, engineering, art, and math. Families can use a Camp Flexi Pass to mix and match camp days with no expiration date, with 3-day and 5-day Flexi Pass options, and single-day drop-ins are available on a first-come, first-served basis, with waitlists and 24–48 hours to register when a spot opens for select camps.

The program’s mission, Everyday STEMful, is to build children’s confidence around how the world works by guiding them through an engaging, project-based STEM curriculum. The teacher-to-student ratio is 1:8, with a maximum of 24 students in both the 3.5–5.5-year-old and 5.5–9.5-year-old groups. Founder Kim Nguyen-Ehrenreich earned a bachelor’s degree in zoology with a concentration in marine biology and a master’s degree in oceanography, worked on research vessels and in submersibles two thousand meters below the surface of the Gulf of Mexico, and built and led a research lab in cardiovascular science collaborating with world-renowned scientists.

Parent testimonials describe teachers as engaging and caring, note that children learn concepts such as centrifugal force, kinetic energy, and optical illusions through play, and mention that children attend afterschool programming and camps and “absolutely love it.” Parents also report that STEMful offers a rich, constantly changing range of programs, that the “a la carte” option is helpful for care on odd days, that children get plenty of outdoor time and trips to the park, and that staff have supported a child with special needs with an open mind and heart. Multiple parents state that their children come back from camp happy and stimulated and that they feel their children are in a safe, well-cared-for, fun, and educational environment.
