Ms. Marian’s Dance Garden opened in October 2013 and was founded on 10.1.13. Over thirty years ago, Ms. Marian designed a movement program for early learners age 6–36 months using her own son, and in 1980 she wrote a book for Early Childhood Educators for Pre K to 1st grade. The studio is described as a performance-focused Dance Studio with three Schools of Movement for infants/toddlers, kids, and a Teen/Adult FIT Program, and it is also a Training Center for Teachers, Students and Dancers with the stated objective to grow educated, responsible and talented artists. DG students have earned spots in high schools and colleges of the arts and employment in dance companies and in related fields including education, the arts, production, and design.

The leadership team includes Ms. Marian (Marian Roth-Cramer, BA, MFA), Ms. Nika (Nika Jurich), and Mr. Welsh (Tim Welsh). Marian Roth-Cramer has 30+ years’ experience as a performer, teacher, producer, author and company director. Nika Jurich is a freelance dancer, teacher, choreographer, and musician based in San Francisco who began her training in Los Gatos, California, graduated from the Harid Conservatory in 2015, the Pacific Northwest Ballet Professional Division in 2017, and the Alonzo King LINES Ballet Training Program in 2019, and began teaching in 2016. Tim Welsh began his dance instruction at the Shipley and Smith School of the Danse in Colma, California, worked with Benny Smith, became a full-time dance instructor in Tap and Jazz, opened his own studio in Sunnyvale, California, has belonged to National Dance and Affiliated Artists (NADAA), Dance Arts Unlimited (DAU) and National Tap International (NTI), and has choreographed for multiple musicals and taught in many dance conventions.

According to its mission statement, Ms. Marian’s Dance Garden describes itself as a community of dancers, faculty, staff and volunteers who state that they have a high regard for each other, the art of dance, and the respectability and value of their work. The mission statement says that all who participate are requested to be willing to be held accountable and to uphold stated values and ethics, to show respect to parents, students, and all who call Ms. Marian’s Dance Garden home, and to participate in a community for the performing art of dance that exemplifies integrity, character, leadership, responsibility and professionalism. The program notes that activities such as Arts and Crafts, Sewing Bees, Musical Theatre, Destination Choreography, and other offerings are intended to complement dance training to build what it calls the “well-adjusted, whole dancer.”
