About

The Richmond Neighborhood Center Youth Programs are part of a nonprofit organization that offers youth programs in 11 public schools. The programs are run by a team that includes directors, program managers, assistant program managers, family partnership coordinators, and youth development staff in roles focused on elementary, middle, and high school programs, as well as family engagement and restorative practices.

The Richmond Neighborhood Center was founded in 1980 and originated from community activism to save the former Lucinda Weeks School from demolition. Its mission is to provide youth, families, and seniors in San Francisco with essential services, meaningful connections, and leadership opportunities at every stage of life. The organization is described as a vital resource for community connection and support in San Francisco's Richmond District and a second home for everyone in the community. It improves the lives of over 5,000 youth, adults, and seniors each month, and its work is rooted in justice, equity, and sustainability. It partners with schools, families, and local organizations to offer school-based school year and summer enrichment for over 3,000 public school students, food security services for 1,500 households, youth workforce development initiatives, senior empowerment workshops, and community events.
