The program uses a project-based and student-centered model with a personalized learning environment, and offers a free 30 minute trial class. It also runs coding workshops with themes for different ages and interests, including options suitable for scouts, game nights, and after-school events, and brings classes to partner locations such as schools, after-school clubs, and education organizations.

AllCode Academy is founded by Shilpa Deshpande, who is the Founder and Lead Instructor. Shilpa Deshpande holds an M. S. degree in Computer Engineering from San Jose State University.

The program’s mission is “Coding for all” and it aims to make coding accessible to students who are under-privileged or going through hardships. As part of this mission, AllCode Academy partners with schools, after-school clubs and education organizations to provide coding classes tailored to their needs, and every year it gives away free classes and discounts.

The annual Code-A-Thon coding competition is designed for kids and teens, and the top two Code-A-Thon coders are rewarded and can win Amazon Gift Cards, with everyone receiving a certificate and light refreshments served. AllCode Academy also offers a refer a friend program where families receive a free class if a referral turns into a sign-up, with no limit on the number of referrals. A previous team from the program received special recognition with an opportunity to be featured on NBC’s Today in the Bay.

Student and parent testimonials describe classes such as Web Design, Game Design, and JavaScript coding as personalized to student interests, focused on concepts like arrays, functions, drawings, shapes, and game projects, and note that progress reports are sent to parents. Testimonials also mention students taking Game Design and Web Development for a year, building games in JavaScript and creating websites using HTML and CSS, and describe experiences in which coding concepts were thoroughly explained, creative homework projects were assigned, and going “outside the box” was encouraged. Parents report that their children have been taking web design classes for a year and that instructor Shilpa is a patient teacher.
