About

Coach Ken Soccer offers afterschool classes, indoor soccer, a rec league, and camps that include ball skills, agility, 1v1 play, and small-sided 3v3 and 4v4 soccer matches. The program uses 4v4 and 5v5 game formats and includes activities such as dribbling fast, changing direction, and practicing advanced moves and fakes. Players are divided into groups by age and ability and follow a structure that starts with ball skills, moves into agility and 1v1 play, and ends with a 3v3 or 4v4 soccer match.

• Ages: 4–12 years old
• Schedule: Registration for Winter-Spring 25/26 Afterschool Programs are OPEN!

Coach Ken Soccer is a recreational soccer program that teaches both technical and tactical skills through a progressive and ever-evolving curriculum that uses a wide variety of fun exercises. The program follows four core values: Consistency, Knowledge, Skills, and Advancement, and it is personalized and individualized to help each kid develop as a player. Players typically start with 25–30 minutes of ball skills with a ball at their feet, focusing on one skill per day reinforced by games, followed by 5–10 minutes of agility work on movements such as moving forward, sideways, backward, and jumping, about 10 minutes of 1v1, and then 10–15 minutes of a 3v3 or 4v4 match, with no goalies for players under 6 years old except on shooting lesson day.

Coach Ken leads the program and is recognized for both his teaching ability and the joy he brings to the youth soccer experience. Coaches are trained to correctly teach soccer skills to different age groups, understand how different ages and kids learn, and are experienced at quickly identifying each player’s strengths and weaknesses to create programs that address each player’s specific needs. The program guarantees that children will have the same good, professional coaches who know them personally, with a focus on good ball and body control, soccer tactics, decision-making, and teamwork.

The rec league introduces kids to real team soccer with consistent teams, teammates, rules, and ref-coaches, and the matches are small-sided. In the rec league, the game format is 4v4 or 5v5, and players rotate positions to gain experience as the goalie, defender, and attacker, with uniforms given around week 3–4 once teams are established. Camps are designed to keep players involved in soccer during holiday breaks and focus on learning the basics of soccer with fun, enthusiastic coaching and age-appropriate skills.

Coach Ken Soccer has a No Tolerance Policy for physical violence, verbal abuse, and spitting directed toward other players and coaches, and if this policy is violated, a cancellation and refund for the remaining classes is processed. For rain outs, parents are emailed at least 1 hour before the start of class, and make-up classes are held by extending the program one more week at the same time and place until all sessions are complete. For shinguards, soccer cleats, and other soccer gear, the program recommends local soccer stores and lists United Soccer Coaches, Los Altos Recreation, PASC, Activity Hero, US Soccer, and FIFA in its community connections.
