About
Farnsworth Swim School offers 1 on 1 private swimming lessons, including toddlers and kids swimming lessons, teen swimming lessons, and adult swimming lessons. The program also provides athletes and swim team training, as well as triathlete swim training, in a summer seasonal format with lessons for beginning through advanced levels.
• Ages: 1–18 years old
• Schedule: Summer-only program with 4-day, 5-day, 7-day, and 8-day sessions in 2026; summer registration opens the first week of March for the public after returning families
Farnsworth Swim School has been in business since 1980 and is celebrating over 45 years of operation. The CEO and Lead Swim Instructor is Jaynie Farnsworth. The program’s mission statement says that it creates lasting and empowering connections with families by transforming their relationship with the water from fear to joy to mastery, with an emphasis on water safety, skill, and fun. The school uses an exclusively 1 on 1 private lesson format and offers an immersive experience with consecutive weekday lessons, with a stated emphasis on water safety as the cornerstone of its teaching philosophy, and is available for questions and comments year-round while operating during the summer only.
Parent testimonials report that children as young as 2 have taken lessons and enjoyed their classes, and that both children in one family learned to swim there and made notable progress with one-on-one attention compared with group lessons elsewhere. Another parent reports that a 5-year-old child with a learning disability was floating on his back and swimming a few strokes by the end of an 8-day lesson and asked to return the next year. An adult testimonial from a 42-year-old describes becoming pool safe, enjoying playing with their kids, and swimming for exercise after a week of lessons with Jaynie Farnsworth.
