West Coast Martial Arts - Santa Teresa offers martial arts and mixed martial arts training that includes practical self-defense, Tae Kwon Do, boxing, kickboxing, grappling, and stick fighting. West Coast Martial Arts - Santa Teresa includes a LITTLE DRAGONS program where ages 4 to 8 years learn self-discipline while learning how to punch, kick, and build a foundation for practical self-defense. The junior color belt program is a full mixed martial arts system for students ages 9 to 14. The mixed martial arts system consists of practical self-defense, Tae Kwon Do, boxing, kickboxing, grappling, and stick fighting.
KJN Joe Soltis is the owner and Master Instructor at West Coast Santa Teresa and has spent more than 40 years training in martial arts and over 30 years teaching and mentoring students. For the past 26 years, he has owned and operated West Coast Santa Teresa. He is a West Coast Martial Arts Black Belt Master Instructor in the system founded by Ernie Reyes and Tony B. Thompson and is also a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt awarded in September 2024 by Professor Leandro Vieira at Prizma BJJ. KJN Samantha is a 5th-degree black belt who has been training for over 20 years and is the program director and lead Little Dragons and white belt instructor at West Coast Santa Teresa. The leadership team also includes Grand Masters Ernie Reyes and Tony Thompson as founders of the West Coast World Martial Arts Association.
West Coast Santa Teresa opened its doors on May 1, 2000. The founders of the West Coast World Martial Arts (WCWMA) Association, Grand Masters Ernie Reyes and Tony Thompson, are described as world class fighters. The association includes 40 schools across the nation, and its stated purpose is to develop oneself physically, mentally, and spiritually, with a goal to create peace, harmony, health, happiness, and success for many people through West Coast World Martial Arts training.
Master Ernie Reyes was inducted into the Black Belt Hall of Fame as Instructor of the Year and was the National Tae Kwon Do Champion in fighting. In 1977 he represented the USA and was a world-class winner at the World Championships held in Chicago. His son, Ernie Reyes Jr., was the youngest child ever to be rated in the adults professional division at the age of 8 years old and produced many national champions and an Olympic champion. Budo magazine of Europe wrote that the Ernie Reyes’ World Martial Arts Action Team is #1 in the world. Master Ernie Reyes Sr. was honored as “One of the Greatest Martial Arts Masters of the 20th Century” and was featured with his World Action Team on TNT’s “Tribute To The Martial Arts Master Of The 20th Century.” He has received lifetime achievement awards from every major national martial arts association in the US, including “The Life Time Achievement Award” for 2007 from the Martial Arts Industry Association at the Martial Arts Super Show in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand Hotel, as well as prestigious awards from The National Association Of Professional Martial Arts and The International Educational Funding Company.
