San Jose Composite Youth Mountain Bike Team is a youth mountain bike team where riders take part in mountain biking, racing, regular practices, and Bring Your Friend Social Rides. The official season includes four race weekends where the team competes against other Northern California teams, and it ends with High School League Championships against schools from both East Bay and Central conferences. The team is made up of 6th to 12th grade students from various South Bay schools and welcomes riders of all abilities.

• Schedule: Official season runs from December through May with practices on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays
The team’s mission is to inspire a love for mountain biking, foster a strong and supportive team culture, and empower young riders while building a vibrant, inclusive mountain biking community. San Jose Composite is part of the NorCal Cycling League, which is part of the National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA), an organization that includes over 14,000 high school students nationally through subchapter organizations. NorCal’s stated mission is to build strong body, mind, character, and community through the inclusive sport of cycling, with core values of Fun, Inclusivity, Equity, Respect, and Community. The team’s core values include Inclusivity & Respect, Sportsmanship & Integrity, Teamwork & Collaboration, Community Connection & Giving Back, Growth & Development: Athletes for Life, and Safety & Responsibility.
The team is passionate about inspiring students to discover the joy of mountain biking and strives to create a close-knit team where every athlete feels valued and supported. The team provides tools and encouragement for athletes to compete in races when they are ready and excited and is committed to creating an inclusive and respectful environment for all riders. The team is also committed to making a difference beyond riding the trail through volunteer efforts and local partnerships, and it is dedicated to giving back through volunteer work and community partnerships. The program embraces the “Athletes for Life” model, focusing on developing the ability, confidence, and desire to be physically active for life. Safety and responsibility are prioritized at all times during training and competition, and proper training, equipment use, and trail etiquette are emphasized as essential to ensure the well-being of all athletes.
