Lua o Nā Koa [Den of Warriors] operates under the mission statement “Lua O Nā Koa Confidence. Creativity. Fitness.” The program is led by head instructor Sifu Kekoa, with Great Grand Master Juarez, Sihing Willie, and Sihing Doug also teaching. The instructors each bring over a decade of teaching experience, and the assistant instructors have more than 10 years of training, with accreditations from their respective organizations. The dojo’s style of Kajukenbo became its own recognized branch in 1967 under the guidance and mentorship of Charles Gaylord. Lua o Nā Koa [Den of Warriors] is a Hawaiian-American Martial Arts Accredited School of the Official Kajukenbo Association of America: Gaylord Method and an Official Pacific Jujitsu Alliance charter school. The program offers three free consecutive trial classes while space is available, with only eight trial spots available each month, and training methods aim to reduce stress and improve focus. Structured kids’ classes focus on physical foundations and character, teen and adult classes focus on fitness goals, self-defense skills, and competitive form, and SuperHero Academy classes blend comics and martial arts to teach creativity, confidence, and responsibility.

Parent and student testimonials describe the dojo as offering beginner and adult classes, Zoom options, and a workout that can build leg muscles and provide a deep workout that gets participants sweating. One family with three children reports attending about three times a week and describes the dojo as clean and tidy, with instructors and families who are welcoming and warm. They highlight head instructor Sifu Kekoa’s extensive knowledge base, martial arts skill set, intuitive teaching style, and his habit of moving around the mats to check in and give individual attention, as well as regular training support from Great Grand Master Juarez, Sihing Willie, and Sihing Doug. Other testimonials describe Lua o Nā Koa [Den of Warriors] as very good for kids’ physical growth, development, and confidence development, and one longtime participant identifies as “old school 90’s Juarez KAJUKENBO” and states there is nothing better in his opinion.
