• Ages: 5–18 years old
Head Instructor Adam Schmaltz leads the program and incorporates his knowledge of Jiu Jitsu, Judo and Wrestling, Kinesiology, Motor Learning, Physical Education, and Youth Development into the training process. The program follows a goal-oriented and goal-driven approach to teaching grappling, with each class taught with both physical and technical goals in mind. Mission Grappling Club uses custom software so students can measure and track progress, identify important areas of focus, and work on improving abilities with guidance. Adults, teens, and youth classes are all taught with attention to quality and provide space for both competitiveness and connection. Mission Grappling Club offers a free trial class and keeps phone lines open during regular business hours, typically responding to emails within 24 hours, and is active on Instagram. The doors are open for in-person visits and tours of the facility, which is located in the center of Vallecitos Village Shopping Plaza in the State of Brothers parking lot. Mission Grappling Club states that its aim is to equip students with the physical and mental tools necessary to optimize both their skills and their performance. The club describes itself as existing to serve the community by teaching modern martial arts techniques and supplying the area with top-quality BJJ classes, and it reports that martial arts classes teach individuals control, focus, peace, and discipline in all aspects of life. The program reports that it helps the community grow stronger both physically and psychologically using Jiu Jitsu, Wrestling, and Judo as tools for personal growth, and that it is deeply connected to the San Marcos community while welcoming nearby communities including Escondido, Fall Brook, and Valley Center to join modern Jiu-Jitsu classes.
