Sew Inspired

Sew Inspired offers sewing and design experiences that include summer camps, school holiday camps, after school sessions, birthday parties, Girl Scout troop events, and adult private lessons. The program also offers special options such as Summer Fun Friday Evenings “Sunsets and Sewing,” Kids Private Evening Sew Camp, Learn-to-Sew Private Lessons, “Past Due” Alterations, Padres Proud: Game Day Gear Workshop, The “Dress Shirt” Refashion, Keepsake T-Shirt Quilts, and Youngsters & Young Adults on the Spectrum Sessions. Workshops and camps now include written instructions and sometimes a “pattern-of-the-project.”

• Ages: 5–18 years old
• Schedule: Options include Summer Fun Friday Evenings “Sunsets and Sewing” from 6:00–8:30 on June 19, July 10, July 24, and August 14, plus other camps, workshops, and after school sessions with specific durations such as a 2.5-hour Keepsake T-Shirt Quilts session
• Price: Kids Private Evening Sew Camp: minimum 3 kids and maximum 6 kids at $110 per camper; Keepsake T-Shirt Quilts 2.5-hour session: $165 for 1 person/private lesson, $95 each for 2 people/bring a friend, and $75 each for 3 people/“it’s a party”

Sew Inspired is celebrating its 15th year in business and has taught over 2,500 little youngsters how to sew and create design, with some past students pursuing fashion design, interior design, and visual arts careers. The leadership team includes owner and entrepreneur Laura Prince, sewing teacher Bella Knipe, teaching assistant Jasmine Prince, and creator and designer Tere Jensen at M.O.M. Bella was a student of Laura Prince 10 years ago, is currently pursuing internships in design, and is attending a local college. Jasmine is Laura’s 27-year-old daughter with Down syndrome, learned to sew at Sew Inspired, works as a teaching assistant, and is growing her banner business. Tere has spent the past 18 years creating, designing, and sewing her original designs around the globe. The mission statement for Sew Inspired is: “WE LOVE SEWING. WE LOVE KIDS. WE LOVE ‘BIG’ KIDS, TOO. WE BELIEVE IN THE SOCIAL EXPERIENCE. WE BELIEVE IN THE NOBLE SKILL OF SEWING AND DESIGN.” Youngsters & Young Adults on the Spectrum Sessions are offered, and Sew Inspired is a Regional Center vendor. In 2024, Laura Prince decided to write a kid’s sewing book.
