Highlands Recreation District Seasonal Camps and Youth Programs include activities such as offsite field trips, art projects, organized games, swim time, and time to play. Campers can also register for additional onsite enrichment classes available at the Rec during camp hours.

The Rec offers full-day enrichment camps for students in grades K–8 during Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer breaks based on the SMFC school district’s traditional calendar. Highlands Recreation District provides licensed childcare for children ages 3 months to 8th grade, as well as camps and enrichment classes. The Highlands Rec Seasonal Camp Emergency Packet must be completed for each camper before the first day of camp, and filled out emergency packets can be emailed to Mike Koenig at [email protected]. Mike Koenig is listed as the contact for the Summer Camp 2026 Emergency Packet.
The Highlands Recreation District was established in 1957, and in 1958 residents voted to purchase 3.45 acres of land and construct the facility and swimming pool. The Highlands Recreation District operates under the Community Services District law pursuant to government code 61000 et seq for the purpose of providing recreational services within the District. Some activities are available to non-residents of the District. The Highlands Recreation District states that it is dedicated to providing beneficial and enriching programs and services to its patrons and a place to create and promote health, well-being and community. In 2018, the District was awarded a Special District Leadership Foundation’s District Transparency Certificate of Excellence for its website content. The HRD Baby Pool and rock walls are closed until further notice, with updates to be provided when available.
