Kids Karate Camp

Kids Karate Camp offers a week-long Shōrinji Ryū Karate Camp with daily karate training that includes advanced drills, kata (forms) practice, self-defense skills training, and a karate obstacle course. Camp days feature speed and reaction drills, games such as “Sensei Says” and “Lightning Blocks,” pad and bag work, team-based challenges, partner drills, and team-building activities. Each day also includes discussions and reflections as part of the immersive training.

Kids Karate Camp is led by Sensei Will and is based on Shōrinji Ryū Karate, a traditional style of Okinawan karate that blends powerful strikes, joint locks, throws, and practical self-defense techniques. The camp includes hands-on training for real-world situations, such as escapes from grabs, effective blocking, and de-escalation techniques, along with high-energy striking drills on focus mitts and heavy bags. Activities also include team-based challenges that involve communication and leadership, as well as opportunities for older or more experienced students to take on leadership roles. The program includes a focus on karate philosophy, including respect, discipline, and perseverance. Healthy snacks are provided each day, and families are asked to send a bag lunch and water bottle; for non-members, a uniform purchase is required for all summer camp age groups.
