Cucu's PlayHouse

Cucu's PlayHouse offers Music and Movement classes in Spanish where children sing, dance, and play interactive games in a music and play-based program. The program includes in-person classes, virtual classes, and outdoor classes when the weather is nice, as well as in-person music and movement birthdays. Cucu's PlayHouse also has a toy store with a hand picked selection of toy brands.

• Schedule: Virtual classes are offered Monday through Saturday via Zoom, with contact phone hours Monday through Saturday from 10 am to 4 pm, and the space open Monday through Friday and Saturday for scheduled classes and activities.

Cucu's PlayHouse is a Language Immersion School that specializes in teaching Spanish through Music and Movement to children aged 3 months to 5 years old, with an emphasis on exposing children to the Spanish language through music and play. Each music and movement class is intentionally planned around specific words and phrases, guided by a selection of children’s songs in Spanish from start to finish, with games and activities related to the lyrics and songs that encourage children to dance. The program teaches values such as honesty, empathy, kindness, determination, independence, and confidence through songs, stories, and games, and its name is inspired by the traditional children’s song “Cucú, cucú, cantaba la rana” written in 1657 by Luís de Belmonte.

The leadership team includes Nilda, Lead Teacher and Founder of Cucu's PlayHouse, and Yani, one of the founders, along with Lorena, who joined in 2022 and takes care of day-to-day operations, and Blanca, who has 28 years of experience in elementary education and was director and owner of her own school in Peru for 11 years. Nilda has a background growing up in a family of Cuban musicians, and Lorena has years of experience in early childhood education. Cucu's PlayHouse is described as a top rated Spanish Immersion program for babies, toddlers, and preschoolers, with more than 200 reviews from parents across the United States and beyond, and more than 5,000 children have learned Spanish with its music and play-based program.

Classes from Cucu's PlayHouse are also offered on Outschool, Activity Hero, KidPass, and other platforms. The toy store focuses on sustainable practices, materials, and design quality, with the vast majority of toys made out of wood, silk, and other natural materials, using organic pigments, water-based dyes, and non-formaldehyde glue. One parent shared that their 3-year-old daughter loves Cucu’s PlayHouse, looks forward to the 30-minute online classes, and continued attending virtually while traveling, including from New Jersey during the pandemic.
