WildCare has existed since 1974, and its mission is to teach children to live well with wildlife. WildCare depends on volunteers in the Wildlife Hospital and other roles, and it treats sick or injured animals, teaches people how to live peacefully with wildlife, and advocates for better protection of wildlife and remaining open spaces. WildCare was designated as the grant recipient by the filmmaker of the winning 2025 One Earth Young Filmmakers Contest. A volunteer, Marisa Woods, described rescuing an injured bird and then volunteering and teaching children and adults about wildlife as “kicking off a lifetime of caring.”
