The Catching Academy

The Catching Academy focuses on the growth and development of elite defensive catchers through a full service instructional program. Participants work on developing skills for all aspects of catching, including receiving and body positioning, refining their catching craft, flexibility training, and weight training. The program also includes leadership development, work ethic development, and life skills development, and develops players in the physical, mental, and leadership qualities of the catching position.

The Catching Academy states that it is dedicated to the growth and development of elite defensive catchers in the greater Bay Area. Its programs guide catchers on a path of developing skills for all aspects of catching and cultivate leadership, work ethic, and life skills. The program tailors an instructional game plan that meets students where they are and raises their level, and it emphasizes developing solid young men who understand the qualities necessary to lead on the field, in the classroom, and in the workplace. The Catching Academy instructional team draws on many years of experience at elite levels, and the leadership team includes Brett Thomas, Tony Arnerich, Kevin Stanley, and John Baker.
