The Catching Academy

The Catching Academy focuses on developing skills for all aspects of catching, including receiving, body positioning, and the mental side of catching. The program includes flexibility training, weight training, and refining the craft of catching. It also includes leadership development, work ethic development, and life skills development.

• Ages: 11–18 years old

The Catching Academy is a full service instructional organization dedicated to the growth and development of elite defensive catchers in the greater Bay Area. It works to provide programs that guide catchers on a path of developing skills for all aspects of catching and strives to develop players in all aspects of the catching position. The program tailors an instructional game plan that will meet students where they are and immediately begin to raise their level. The Catching Academy states that it takes pride in developing solid young men who understand the qualities necessary to lead on the field, in the classroom, and in the workplace. The leadership team includes Brett Thomas, Tony Arnerich, Kevin Stanley, and John Baker, and the staff includes coaches who have played and coached at any level of baseball.
