• Ages: 4–18 years old
• Schedule: Weekly class options on Mondays through Sundays, including classes for brand new beginners, advanced beginners, novice/prizewinner, championship, intermediate children’s classes, adult classes, and time set aside for special practices, private lessons, and workshops
Founded in 1967 under the direction of Ann McBride, ADCRG, the McBride School of Irish Dance has been established since 1967 and has been providing Irish dance instruction for over 50 years while celebrating over 50 years of Irish culture through dance in the North Bay, East Bay, and Tri-Valley. The school’s mission is to enrich and fulfill the lives of its dancers, families, and community through Irish dance, and it describes itself as a place where Irish traditions come alive. The leadership team includes founder and director Ann McBride, ADCRG, and co-director Eileen McBride-Parker, TCRG.
Ann McBride received her TCRG credentials in 1967, her ADCRG credentials in 1975, and BG Certification as a Grade Examiner, and she is a founding member of the Western U.S. Region who has served as President and Vice President. In 2019, Ann McBride was awarded the Gradam Award by An Coimisium for her contributions to Irish dance and Irish culture. Eileen McBride-Parker received her TCRG accreditation in 1997. The McBride School is accredited and registered with An Coimisiun le Rinci Gaelacha (CLRG – the Irish Dance Commission) and the Irish Dance Teachers Association of North America (IDTANA), Western U.S. Region, and is a founding member of the IDTANA Western U.S. Region.
The school states that all in-person class COVID protocols exceed recommended state, county, and city standards and that it continues to work with city, county, and state officials to follow the latest recommendations for safe in-person classes. The program works with fitness professionals so dancers learn ways to stretch, warm up, and cool down to avoid injuries and increase stamina. Dancers at McBride School of Irish Dance have opportunities to compete at the local, regional, national, and international level and to participate in shows and performances. The school notes that adults and teens who have danced before as children are welcome to return to dancing. Studio rental and performance bookings are available, and the school references the East Bay Feis and a Feis calendar, as well as a digital business card available via QR code.
