Mark James Music Lessons offers piano lessons, electric keyboard lessons, guitar lessons, electric bass lessons, clarinet lessons, saxophone lessons, music theory instruction, and music composition. The program also offers private piano lessons, private guitar lessons, and other private music instruction for kids, teens, and adults, including options to learn piano or electric keyboard from age five through adult and to learn guitar or electric bass from ages seven through adult. Guitar lessons are available for ages nine through adult, and students can learn to compose their own music on piano or guitar.

Mark James is the full-time music instructor and has a music education degree and over 40 years of experience, including 16 years as an instructor at Vanguard University of Southern California. His background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education from Southern California College in 1983, private piano study with Dr. Carol Stewart in 1979–1980, private piano study with Dr. George Arisimovic in 1983, and private guitar study with Cornel Imry from 1980–1984. He has provided private music instruction since 1976, taught as a music instructor at Independence Christian School from 1984 to 1989, and served as Assistant Music Director at Foothill Family Church from 1994 to 1997.

James Music Studio first opened in Santa Ana in 1946 and later moved to another location in 1950, and Mark James has continued the tradition of private music instruction in the Santa Ana area through Mark James Music Lessons. One parent from Fountain Valley reports that Mark James introduced music to a 5-year-old child and that the child learned a lot over eight months of lessons. Another parent from Huntington Beach reports that after trying other teachers, their son’s desire to learn returned after starting lessons with Mark James.
