For The Children’s mission is to mobilize the local Church to create life-changing moments for children who have experienced relational trauma. Ministry began in 1985. For The Children mobilizes the local Church to host Royal Family KIDS Camp and Mentoring programs for children who have experienced relational trauma, and equips churches in 44 states and in 10 countries to provide these programs to children ages 6–12. With over 200 chapters across the US and globe, For The Children is a nonprofit partnering with a network of local churches dedicated to providing unconditional love, hope and safety to children. Camp curriculum and activities are woven through the modality of Trust-Based Relational Intervention. Five-day camps create a space where children entering or already in the child welfare system can learn to develop healthy relationships, build trust and begin healing. Mentoring programs provide dependable, monthly contact with the same, safe adults to build on healing and trust and form lasting relationships. Programs are offered at little to no cost in over 200 locations across the US and around the globe. For The Children focuses on trauma-informed care and a rigorous screening process for volunteers and upholds rigorous safety standards to ensure the protection and well-being of every child in their programs. For The Children is motivated by the example Christ set and caring for those referred to as “the least of these.” Bridge to Belonging equips churches to become safe, trauma-informed havens for vulnerable children and their families and provides training and ready-to-use lesson plans, with all materials currently available at no cost.

“The overall effectiveness of Royal Family KIDS camps that I have experienced is that one week at camp can be as effective as one year of counseling sessions.” - Becca C. Johnson, Ph.D.
